AIHI VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTER

In response to the high unemployment rate and the lack of access to economic opportunities for diverse marginalized individuals, which stem from the exclusion and discrimination faced within the larger population, AIHI is committed to improving livelihoods and curbing dependency in our communities. Our efforts have also contributed to reducing vulnerabilities to HIV/AIDS infection and other human rights violations.

Our skills acquisition and socio-economic empowerment initiative equips community members with various vocational, digital, and tech skills, enabling them to earn a living and address local challenges. Our vocational training center offers a wide range of skills training, including solar installation, catering, shoe and bag making, photography, facial makeup, cinematography, and ICT training. Additionally, we promote talent development through activities like football and other recreational programs.

Through our empowerment initiative, community members gain valuable skills that open doors to entrepreneurship, economic growth, and self-expression. Mastering these skills fosters a sense of accomplishment

By participating in our empowerment programs, community members challenge low self-esteem, self-doubt, and the prevailing stereotype that equates being queer solely with sexual intercourse, while also countering the misconception that queer individuals do not contribute to the Nigerian economy. Our initiative has helped cultivate self-acceptance and resistance to oppression, fostering resilience, self-efficacy, and a sense of belonging, all of which contribute to improving livelihoods.
